WPA Ghost Stories:

Every ghost needs a score to settle, a tragedy to mourn, or a wrong to avenge. The WPA interviews with ex-slaves from the 1930′s are full of all 3. Come transform these stories into modern day tales of terror and fright, where the ghosts of former slaves come to life and tell the world their forgotten stories.

Makes a great way to incorporate first hand accounts of slavery into English, Art, History, or Theater classes.

Inspired by Toni Morrison’s “Beloved,” Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film “Django Unchained,” and the WPA interviewees.

Get them before they’re gone to catch a special interpretation of my performance art score Diva Dutch that has been commissioned for Derrick Adam’s The Channel, “A lively, seriocomic performance, presented in the style of educational programs like Sesame Street, exploring the relationship of American popular culture, commerce, and the development of self-image.“ The Channelis part of the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival.

MoCADA TV has arrived! The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art has for the past ten years been at the vanguard of contemporary African Diasporan culture. The museum has now partnered with Media MVMT to present the first season of MoCADA TV, a half hour television program dedicated to profiling, artists, cultural institutions and businesses of the African Diaspora.
